warmed up the 09 yesterday and saw the panel has finally started sagging, although the cars rarely even seen the sun- maybe 3 days ever its been out?- knew it was bound to happen... curious, you guys that have done the contact cement a decade ago, did it fall off again years later? wifes 07 has a few spots bubbling loose too, wasnt sure if readhering would be as good as like the coverlay skins for durability...
hard to believe these cars are 'old' already...seems like yesterday, calling the robot lady and typing in the memorized vin/order number, or emailing Kzinti for factory tracking these once so darn hard to get cars...my 06 will be 20 this December, still holding up great... have a 2008 son who is autocrossing it for the second year- last year he was still learning stick, out on the autocross course
this ol' mustangs sure made a lot of memories...wife, 4 sons all learned manual in it, a 5800 mile road trip, countless test and tune dragstrip nights, quite a few years autocrossing, its taken it all in stride...the 06 was a deluxe, so hard plastic door panels that didnt fall apart... even 20 years after placing that order, it still 'seems' like the new car it once was... the 09 still has its plastic on the seats and such, but tattered from getting in/out to start/move it every so often, its up to 5.8 miles now, from the 3.4 when it was dropped off here... the 06 has close to 105,000 on it, only put a thousand or so the last couple years as got a challenger for daily summer fun...still drive the mustang once in a while, but the big boat of a challengers a bit more comfortable, they both still have that 'new car fun factor'...doubt this Dodge will hold up like the mustang, time will tell - but prob a safe bet i wont be around to find out in 20 years- but think the ol mustang should outlast me
the 09 still has a little of the new car smell but its fading too...hoping it winds up in a museum someday...wrinkled door panel or not...funny the window stickers still in it too, and the easy to remove(well was at one time) tape is still holding it fast, but the door material, light as it is, is losing its gravity battle...

she hits 92k this summer Im sure. Took it our for a nice cruise last weekend to Ponies in the Smokies event in Pigeon Forge. Tons of Mustangs!
Still runs perfect after all the 1/4 mile runs and road course events. It needed a little more life, and some extra unf under the hood since it was kinda slow compared to the newer ones, so did supercharge it and put in a T-56 among a much of supporting mods.
Door sills sagging after repair, have not repaired yet.
cd player officially died. Another mod for another day, id rather listen to the car vs music!

Mine are holding up 1/2 decent but that's only because I had my seats redone as they were in very rough shape so the Kit for the seats included the 2 side panels as well and he did them for me.
if they go again, and I still have the car, I'm going with the coverlay panels listed above.
man. my 05 is 20 years old. Blows my mind
Pro tip for the Canadians here.
Hagerty WILL insure your 2005 mustang. they have a division called "future collectibles"
I saved a TON of cash
There is an auto upholstery guy out of Texas that shows repairing the Mustang panels with DAP contact adhesive and not contact cement. He claims that the 3M product does not work and that he has used the DAP contact adhesive for 40 plus years and never had a failure. The product is on Amazon as, "DAP Products Weldwood Landau Top & Trim HHR Solvent Type Spray Grade Contact Adhesive 1 Gal, Natural (070798-002333)". His repair video is on YouTube, and he seems to know what he is doing. His method makes much sense.
I did the doors on my 2008 GT about 3 years ago and used 3M trim and panel adhesive on the vinyl backside and the gray liner and they are coming loose, again. I tried to properly prepare the panels by removing all loose foam and even the foam that was still in place, and still, the inserts have come loose. I am debating whether to remove the gray liner that is stuck to the door panel itself and just putting the adhesive on both the door and vinyl insert so as to eliminate that intermediate gray panel. Even though I will never use a gallon of the DAP stuff, at 60 bucks I think it is worth a try. I hate having to do-over this kind of thing so I have kept looking for the best way so I don't have to do this a third time. What a hassle, Ford, and you should know better.

I found the secret is ...... window screen spline. Yup. glue it up.....but install the screen spline between the frame and panel. Use the spline install tool....it fits perfectly and has held up for years.
You are welcome.
