I don't think you have to be young (to not be able to afford it). Besides, vinyl comes off. One poster on this forum removed their stripes after only a year, just because they wanted something different. It's one thing if you know exactly what you want, but vinyl allows someone to experiment without the full expense of paint.

No question, there's nothing cooler than a custom paint job. But, there's no reason you can't use vinyl on a late model car with only basic stripes. Heck, even my 1977 Thunderbird had factory vinyl (or something very ninyl-like) pin stripes - it's not a new thing.

Be sure to post a pic when you get it done!

I think his point was that not everyone can lay down that kind of cash.

My point is that just because it is not painted on does not mean it is cheap. Saying vinyl "screams" cheap, as Snakebite64 said... is complete B.S.
Not only that.. but it is very insulting.

I agree with this. Cheap, poorly installed vinyl or painted screams cheap to me. I'd never think differently if I saw a car with vinyl over painted stripes

Take a look at my car and you tell me if it looks cheap.
Then tell them to GTFO.

Ugh disgusting. JK It's beautiful

The whole vinyl vs. paint debate is just a matter of opinion. Whether it looks "cheap" is depends more on the quality of work

B.I.N.G.O. !!!!

And make no mistake about it. A bad paint job can look just as bad.
Don't get me wrong... I'd like to have my stripes painted perfectly on and not have to worry about taking proper care of my stripes and such, but they look GREAT. Then again.. taking proper care of them makes me value my car more and treat the rest of it better.
It all goes hand in hand.

Then again... I am not made of money and if I had my choice of spending 2 grand, it would be on GO mods.

But I'll tell you this and it is the TRUTH.
I have had a good number of people tell me my Mustang is the nicest they have ever seen.
I get looks EVERY SINGLE DAY, and at least a couple of times a month someone will stop me to talk about it while I am at
the gas station or have my window rolled down at a traffic light.

Blacksmoke your car can definitely pull it off but generally I'm not a fan of the stripes that stop after the hood & spoiler
