Let me know, I'm almost positive it just attaches to the outside of the shifter boot.

Nope. The shifter bezel comes in one piece with the shift boot attached. You can get one off of a California Special or Bullitt edition, and it will come with a much more subtle brushed aluminum (look) bezel, or you can get a stock GT one with the leather bezel.

FWIW, Steve, I agree. Most of those aftermarket aluminum bezels look ridiculously gaudy. To each his own (thank goodness), but if you are set on a OEM GT boot/bezel combo, I have one I can sell you cheap.

Here's are shots of the OEM brushed bezel and one of the OEM GT bezel:

Hope that helps.

Best,
-j

Hey wait...I just realized, if he put one of those huge aftermarket bezels on, they're just plopped on top with double sided tape or something, aren't they? You could just remove it, and you'd be back to stock (no need to get a new one).

Am I missing something here?

Best,
-j
