Smile Katzin Leather Kit, Nice Stuff!!!

Received the Katzin leather seats and although they are not installed yet, I am very happy with the quality and appearance. Ordered the "Creme" color and it exactly matches the Medium Parchment or tan color of the leather seats on my wife's Mustang. Had I gone by the color chart on the internet, I would have ordered the wrong color. I would strongly advise that the actual color samples from Katzin be used in selecting color. Was going to install the upholstery myself and have stripped the old covers and removed the seats but on second thought have decided to bring the project to the local upholstery shop. I did install the headrest covers but that point on will let the Pro handle it. It is a very nice kit and has more leather content than the factory 'leather'. The leather content includes the whole face of the front seats rather than just the middle section on the OEM seats. The rear seats have vinyl on the 'smooth' sections, leather in the seating portions I believe. The Katzin's have leather on the headrest faces, vinyl elsewhere.

Hate to admit it but I am mostly computer illiterate and don't know how to add pictures. If I knew how I sure would.

See the problem with factory leather seats (at least in our Mustangs) there aren't really all leather. Only the part your butt sits on is leather and it is not a good quality. The rest is "pleather" or plastic made to look like leather.

If you want good quality, you have to go after-market like Katzin.

Sometimes I wonder if we could switch out the front seats for a pair of real leather seats from another car with the same floor tracks?

Funny.
I just got mine in too and am having them installed on Monday.

Black seats, red inserts, red stitching, custom red embroidery, and side air bags.

Excellent leather. Quality is SUPERB.
I like you... can't WAIT to have them installed and am STOKED!

Taking her in first thing Monday morning.
Post pics when you get yours installed.
Look for my thread too as I will post pics!

From here;

http://www.katzkin.com/

After looking more, I see you can get them here for a lot less;

I don't know why they don't offer Ford or Mustang logos on their embroidery list. I think a running pony would look so sweet sewn onto the headrest! I did write to them asking them why.

Quite pricey but a lot of options and customization to choose from!

Because Ford will not let them use their logos.
If they did Ford would sue their asses off.

From what I understand you can use the logo BUT you have to pay a hefty price for the copyright. Perhaps they feel the added cost would not be beneficial.

I talked to Katzkin about this.
They said Ford would not allow them to use ANYTHING associated with Ford.
Not the name, the logo, not even the GT logos.

They used to do it once upon a time and Ford cut them off.
I don't think Ford even allowed them the opportunity to buy rights to use
the logos.
Sucks because I was wanting GT or running horses on mine.

But I got a Limited Edition package from Katzkin and it actually has
Limited Edition embroidered below the headrest.
It looks really awesome.
So I don't mind it all that much that I was unable to do the GT.

I got to see the seats when they came in Thursday and they look and feel
amazing. The quality is simply unsurpassed.
I can't wait to get them installed tomorrow!
