Default Quick Questions Thread

A few other sites have something like this, where you don't have to start a whole new thread for a simple question. Anyway thought it might be a good idea.

My question was, how did I get my exhaust tip clean?? I have tried wheel cleaner and bug off and nothing is working.

I use Aluminum polish. Comes in a little tin, I forget what brand it is. I'll look

I've been meaning to suggest a S197 Chat thread on the main page (like 4.6 section has). That would help cut down on clutter

I'll have to pick some up.
Yeah it is a good idea.
There are always random questions.

It could be kind of like the thread on Modded "What did you do to your Mustang today?"

Any "good" metal polish will work to get it clean. Use a power drill with a power ball or like item will help make it come clean a lot faster.

I am a detailer myself and there are alot of ways to polish up the exhaust tips. Personally, I like to wash them with Adam's All Purpose Cleaner, and then use either Adam's Metal Polish #1 or or Mother's Metal Polish. Both work great. If you have something stuck on the tip after the APC, claybar them before going to metal polish. 1 thing though, don't let the APC dry on the tips at all. It could stain them. As long as you keep them wet it will be fine though.

Also, if you have a picture of what is on the exhaust tips that won't come off, that would be a big help.

Its not really anything stuck too bad, its just about 2 years of neglect.

The surface has just collected a lot of dirt I think I need to get the Mother's Power Ball and the polish you guys mentioned.

Thanks guys.

I've used chrome polish on my exhaust tips as well as my mom's corvette tips (neglected for 6 months) and it polished it up just fine (although none of the tips obviously aren't chrome).
