FRP Customs Radiator shield installed
Just got the radiator shield from FRP installed on my car in time for a small show up here in MA. Very pleased with how it turned out, and thought I'd share a few pics:
It's in matte black for now as time to prep it for the show was very short, and I had the matte paint handy. I may go to body color next Spring (which was my original color plan) but at the moment I'm liking the black more than I expected.
Had to swap intakes as well, as the Ford Racing one I had been running would have needed to be chopped up severely to work with the new configuration. Fortunately I was able to rush order one of the newest style X-Charger intakes from Explorer Express (Dave and Patty at EE really came through getting it to me in time for the show)
Won "Best Engine" at the show, so the scramble seems to have paid off
For those interested without the GT500 front end, FRP does make a cover for the regular GT type bumper/grille setups as well.

The rubber intake is certainly a functional piece, but just that. No eye appeal at all.
I really like what Dave has done with his new piece. Besides the obvious mirror polished tube, the airbox shape was revamped to suit the new tube routing, and the metal on the box that used to be between the filter and the ABS assembly is gone. Makes it possible to turn the K&N filter so it's square, not at an angle (looks better imho)

Thanks, that might be the way it goes. Initially it was "I can't take this to the show with that cover in white gelcoat...I've got some nice looking black paint over there at least", but after looking at it for a good while today, and seeing how nicely if photographs, the black may very well stay.

281 Motorsports also sells the FRP parts, and their pricing is a bit better: http://www.281motorsports.com/produc...oducts_id=1728
The part is a bit pricey (but in the same ballpark as similar products from Bangastang). I will say the FRP fiberglass work was some of the highest quality I've seen though.

Regarding the money aspect, yes, some is required for modding, but it can be cut way back by careful parts shopping, patience, and a lot of "sweat equity" (I did huge amounts of the work on the car myself, only a very few things got turned over to the pros)
