Here Goes
I decided to take the plunge. I ordered a Boss 302 steering wheel for my '06 GT 'Vert. I had a Bullitt wheel and the leather is starting to deteriorate. I have spent a couple of weeks researching this transplant and it seems very doable. I don't care about the radio buttons but I just want the cruise buttons to work. This seems to be just splicing 4 wires.
Ordered it from Levittown Ford. $246.17 including shipping.

Very nice. After I cruised around in a friend's Boss I couldn't help but want the steering wheel as well. Well, I mean, I couldn't help but want the whole car, but I was thinking about mods that were applicable to my GT. Keep us informed!

I know this is an older thread, but for people trying to upgrade to the Boss or new GT steering wheels, this might just help.
With the 05-09's, we use a single row connector of wires, where the 10's up have a double row connector of wire that plugs into the clock spring. We have to switch the double wire connector to a single row plug connector. Now, if you don't want to tear up your good take off steering wheel, but need the connecter for your upgrade, then you can use these. The Ford Focus cruise controls (01 up), the Transit Connect and older Explorers (95 up to 05 or close) will all plug into the Mustang clock spring. There are others, but with just the Escorts alone, there should be ample parts in the wrecking yard. I bought mine off eBay for 6.00 (with harness) and 2.41 shipping. Cheaper than tearing up a perfectly good leather 08 take off wheel. Hope that helps some of you out who still are going to do this upgrade. The cost of the Ford connector is over $34 from Motorcraft, so doing it this way is by far cheaper. Good luck.
