Default Leather Quality

What is the leather interior like? I have not yet seen it in person. What would you guys say the quality of it is like compared to other interiors you may have owned.

I can't decide on just black or the black/red on a silver or tungsten GT!

Thanks!

Can I throw out a crazy idea for you? Go aftermarket leather/vinyl. Quality is much better and for just a little more cash! Look at http://www.katzkin.com/05/FC/index.html. Plus you can get any color you want......

compared to my f150's cloth interior the mustang's leather is far superior, but i haven't had the car all that long....so we will wait and see.....

This is probably the way to go. The leather is marginal. If it's going to be a daily driver and your not into cleaning your car every other day, go with aftermarket. If not, I know there are some companies out there that are selling what they call take-offs from other mustangs, like the Roush and Saleen. You can buy the leather that is removed from these cars. I spoke with a guy (can't remember who) and bought a rear bumper cover to replace my damaged one and he told me they have mufflers, springs, leather, cloth etc. that was removed from these cars. It might even be cheaper to buy the covers and add them yourself. The're pretty much just slip on. I even thought about buying an extra set just in case I mess up one of my seats.

One last comment, I also have an Explorer Eddie Bower with leather and actually, it's a little thicker and better quality. With that, it's starting to show wear on the outside edge from in-and-out activity. The best quality leather I've experienced was in my last BMW 325CI. Very nice and held up quite well.

i had the leather interior in my 2003 Mazda Protege5 and my Mustang's leather is different. A bit softer I think. I notice some wrinkles on the left side as I get in.
If you're keeping your car for a long time and plan on doing mods, then go with the Deluxe package and skip the factory leather and Shaker 500. Shop around for a good aftermarket place so not only can you get what you want in the way of leather quality, but you can get custom stitching (matching the body color) or custom embroidery. Maybe a center area made of that new stain free fabric? To keep you from sliding around as much...

When I took our Mustang to have a seat fixed, they told me the center piece of the seat is real leather, the rest of it is made of vinyl!

For the 5 months i drove my 05 with the red leather IUP, i notices a lil wear on the left side of the drivers... i hope this is just what it gonna look like when broke in all the way... but, i started to use leather conditoner/cleaner once a month or so .. soo hopefully this works and keeps it 'like new' for a few years.....
