Default 107 octane tune??

Anyone knows who offers one? I just bought a SCT2/JLTII combo. The 89 tune is going to be useless for me, but we do have 107 octane race gas at our track. Does anyone offer a canned tune for 107 octane??

I think your gonna have to get a dyno tune for that. Should be fun. Just an expensive fillup?

i honestly don't think our motors can be optimized to that level of octane unless its boosted or has high compression pistons in it. 9.7:1 compression and lots of timing just dont add up very well with 107 IMO. 100octane maybe, mid/high 90s yes...but its not a freaking methanol injection engine here people lol

Is this 107 octane unleaded??? If so be careful, it might be full of goodies (benzene, xylene, etc.) that might tear your fuel system up good! You don't want to get a solvent/component in that gasoline that is incompatible with an o-ring or seal!!

If it is leaded look out period because that will destroy your emissions system--catalytic converter and oxygen sensors. If you're running off road and have taken the emissions stuff off, no problem.

Also, stock compression is 9.8:1. To really get the benefit out of a 107 octane fuel, you need to do some engine work to raise that compression up to say 14:1 or 15:1 (and while you're add it beef up the engine internals--crank, rods, pistons, etc.). NASCAR used 108 leaded fuel from Union 76 and they were running 14:1 way back before rule changes put them at 12:1. I was at Texas Motor Speedway last Fall and saw the Sunoco pumps had 112 on the yellow sticker!!!

I would think 93-95 (R+M)/2 octane would be about as high as one would need with this engine at 9.8:1 and the timing & fuel curves jacked way up.

Hope this helps.

Mike

The tunes I'm doing for you are a 93 Octane Tune and a 104 Octane Race Tune, which is the highest unleaded fuel around! Your track should have 104 Octane Unleaded!

Another BIG factor that you need to know is - YOU CAN'T!!! LOL

Seriously, based on your mod list in your sig, I'm pretty sure you have cats. If you run anything over 102 octane, you will fry your downstream 02 sensors and send your car into failsafe quicker than you can step on the gas. Many gas stations that offer race gas supply VP101 and that is actually about 99 octane once you weed out the additives and will be more than enough for what you have in your car. Also stay away from LEADED race gases with cats - another quick-fry recipe for your 02 sensors. Unless you have a lot more mods than you're showing in your sig, I really don't think you will get anything out of running over 93 pump gas except maybe a lighter wallet..

Ok. Thanks for the info guys. I run the 107 in my SRT when I take it to the track, and it makes a huge difference. I was just hoping the Stang might be the same.

Sounds good to me!!! No problems to the cat/O2 sensors?
