i seem to have a problem getting out of the hole and always get tire spin when i bang second. my car is stock at the moment but in the works of getting an entire new exhaust system (headers-back) and eventually want to get a s/c. if im having problems now launching, ill be spinng my wheels at the gate after a s/c

You want better traction out of the gate at the track? DRAG RADIALS. For the street, especially after you have the s/c....definitely look into some tires with better grip. Ask some of the members around here about their tire setups. I'm still on the stock Pirellis and haven't gotten around to shopping for good tires yet. I may start by looking at some Goodyear Eagle F1's......then maybe some Nittos.
Other thing you can do to help is put on some good strength aftermarket lower control arms to help eliminate wheel hop and keep your drive tires planted firmly on the ground.

it kinda sounds like you are having trouble with the clutch... maybe it needs an adjustment?
I had something similar happen the first time I test drove the new GT with stick. The clutch had way too much foreplay for me and my weak left knee!
Auto was the only way to go.

Drag radials. I had a set of MT drag radials for my 2005 GT and cut consistent 1.5x-1.6x 60ft times the few passes I amde with them. In fact, they are for sale in the classifieds section since I have since sold the car.

 

sorry but i am not very good with the tecnical things, what exactly are drag radials? And would they be fine to put on if i only drove the car around town?

 

drag radials have (almost) no tread just ALOT of rubber, all of it is on the ground (almost no tread) so you get better grip. And no, you dont use drag radials anywhere but the track, now you could get some street radials, which are basically the same thing but with a little tread on them. (i believe drag radials are illegal on the streets?)

No, drag radials are DOT legal and can be driven on the street. They have a tread pattern as indicated in your first picture. The second picture you have is of a track only "slick".

 

If you are running just stock tires, the problem is that they aren't wide enough. Just getting wider tires with a better traction rating will help a lot. If you are serious about your ET's then you should consider the Drag Radials. It should be mentioned that drag radials are only for "Dry" use and won't be very compatible if your car is a daily driver.

I dont see the tread pattern in the 1st pic. The tires in the 1st pic labeled drag radials are Illegal on the street.
The second picture with the tread pattern are street legal as long as the tread is 2/32's of an inch or deeper.
