cant decide!
The hardest decision... 1) sell my 1966 stang and get a new 06 V6 2) keep my 66 and rebuild it with 302 and 5 speed... I blew out my old 289 my 66 is in great cond. it just is sitting with an empty bay.... So keep build up my 66 and spend moneyon engine, trans., disc brakes, a/c... or get 06 and not have to worry about spending all my money in the car...HELP ME!!!! not to mention this will be the only car i have

Keep the 66! For the love of everything holy!!!!
Sorry, just my opinion. Before I got the `05 Gt, I was looking for a `68 Cougar (I used to have a 67 but sold it for school). I was getting worn out trying to find one in decent restorable shape, and just for fun the misses and I took out a Gt for a test drive. I bought it 2 days later. HOWEVER, I have been half regretting it ever since. I keep looking at my old 67 photos and wish I had kept looking for it, and boughten something cheap as my daily driver. My Gt has been for sale on and off for the past 9 months :P
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE MY MUSTANG!!!! But I REALLY REALLY REALLY LOVE OLD SCHOOL MUSCLE!

The ONLY reason I own the 06 I own now is because of your car. (OK. Your car or those like it.) Keep the classic. There's a reason my 06 look like it does. You're very fortunate to have it. I would love to be in your position.

I gotta admit: though I have -- and LOVE -- an '06 V6, my first reaction to reading your post was, "Are you kidding? Keep the '66!"
On the other hand, though, I noticed that you said this will be your only car. How much driving do you do on a daily basis? Do you live in an area with inclement weather? Do you have the financial flexibility to pay for repairs as they arise, or do you want the regular payment schedule (and the warranty coverage) a new car offers?
It would be a shame to sell your '66, and you might regret it down the road when you could afford a daily driver and a project car, but if you need something reliable now, the '06 is certainly a more than adequate (and FUN) way to get around.
I have a buddy with a '67 that's in rough shape. I took a picture of his and mine together (see below). He was using it as a daily driver but the New England winters and his limited budget were too much. At this point he's probably going to end up selling it even after the work he's already put in. I'd hate to see the same thing happen to you.
Whatever you decide, good luck!
Tim

RE: cant decide!
I say buy a cheap, but reliable 4 banger for your everyday use. Keep the 66 picked up while you work on it. If you can avoid it at all.........please try not to sell off the 66. There's got to be a way...

Ok I'm different. Get an 06. The 66 is great but even after the overhaul it's still a 66 with mostly rebuilt 66 parts. Get the look and everything up to date with the 06. I would only keep an older car as hobby and not something I would depend on every day. As for the daily driver four banger, forget it! Gte the 06 add a few mods, enjoy the reliability and ride! Some Lee Iacocca said once made since to me. He would always go for the newer car with its upgrades over the sentimental older verison.
