Changing octane tunes with SCT2 HELP
So do I need to pull the fan and oil pump plugs every time i change tunes? or is it just for the first time you retune? I want to change to 93 octane from 87, and I am assuming that I can retune once my tank is empty and i refill with 93? please correct me if this is wrong.
Claytone, i dont pull any fuses, i just make sure everything if off, radio and ac. As for filling up with 93, i guess just run it till its empty, and fill up 93, i dont know i used 93 a week before i got the tuner so i wouldnt have to wait.
From what I understand, you do not 'need' to pull them, they ensure that your not pulling any juice, and the battery doesn't go dead while tuning.
Going from the 87 to the 93, I waited till I was very low then filled up with 93, and waited another tankfull, very low again and filled up with the second tank of 93 before I switched tunes. This ensures your closer to 93, as adding 93 to the 87 old tank will 'blend' the gas and leave you with a little bit lower octane, and you will still have some 87 in the fuel lines. You could go with the 91 tune, and after a tank or 2 switch to the 93 tune. Of course if you want to try it, you can, and switch back to another tune, it's not like it takes hours or anything, he he When I changed to the 93 tune, I was half way from Beaumont to Houston at a gas station

I was told by Fred at Evo that you do not have to pull the fuses, just make sure all acces. are off.
As far as the gas goes, I ran mine to almost empty, put 93 in, ran for a day, then tuned. It ran GREAT!!!
