Default Motive Performance Gears

Anybody run their gear sets? I'm thinking of going 3.90 instead of 4.10, problem is FFRP doesn't have 3.90 gears and frankly I prefer to run Ford parts.

I'd like to hear what you guys have installed and if it's Motive gears how did they perform? Noise levels like whine, setting them up etc...

Well, that's exactly what I was thinking when I decided to order the Motive 3.90 gears, I have an automatic and wanted something better than the 3.73s. Problem is that these Motive gears are making so much noise that I've decided to order the Ford Racing 4.10s and they should be here on Thursday. I'm hoping to get the 4.10s installed on Satuday, just want to get rid of the Motive gears, they're driving me nuts. I love my Mustang and just hate driving around with the car making all that noise with the gears, would hate for other driver to think the car is about to break down!

What they both said. I have an auto GT and put the FRPP 4:10's in and there are no problems with whine, noise,etc....however, wich ever one you do, make sure you get a knowledgeable machanic to do so.

dkano,
Thanks! This is exactly what I was looking for, I think for this reason I will go FFRP 4.10's, it would be nice if our 5th gear was .62 like the Mach 1 but it's .68, not much different but every little bit helps. For you 5speed guys, what rpm's are you turning at 70 in 5th?

Agreed, and I won't let anybody touch my car unless he has the credentials. I want a Ford dealer to do it actually, I may contact Anderson Ford for pricing on the install...

70 hmmm... Dunno. At 80, 2800 rpm's. With the 3:73's it was 2500 at 80.
