If your going to be road racing, and you are removing weight you have to be careful. If you remove to much weight in the back you could really run into a lot of handling problems. All this weight will add up that we are talking about, but I personally am going to just get a nice set of tires and a staggered 18x10(26lb each) rear and 18x9(25lb each) front setup with MustangTunings Bullitts.

the lightest rims i heard of were made of some glass lookin material .... but i dont recomend them for racing

you can install a carbon fibre hood and delete the rear seat ... ..... hmmmm think of it.... every part of the mustang is needed so why take it off when u still need it for daily drive ?

blko6v6 = any pics of the seats ?

u can change the seats and put lighter ones like blk06v6 did...it will not have that affect on weight balance... ( i think ) cuz its in the middle....

do you like to take turns really hard? im going to assume no, and that it is not thrashed around except the occasional run through the gears on a straight road:

low-profile tires will take lots of rotational mass off the back, as will "racing" rims that weigh ~15-17lbs (~10rwhp if both done, and 20lbs static weight)
aluminum driveshaft will do the same to that (and free up 15rwhp while losing 20lbs of static weight)
replace front sway bar and radiator support with the BMR bolt-in radiator support (~25lbs)
BMR tubular k-member (20lbs)
spare tire out (35lbs, but a flat means you'll need to get towed)
racing seats (50+lbs)

additionally, the shaker 1000 adds 75lbs over base stereo and
the auto tranny weighs 50+lbs more than the manual
a full tank of gas weighs 125lbs or so
a skinny driver (175lbs) will weigh 100lbs less than a fat driver (275)

SO...(please excuse my humor)...a full weight stereo'd auto wiht a fat driver will weigh about 520lbs more than a modded, ready-to-run-at-the-track manual with skinny driver...thats a big diff
I need the skinny driver mod!!!

honestly, i dont forsee too many distribution problems by removing some of that weight. anything taken from the drivers seat up would actually improve upon traction, would it not? the goal is to evenly distribute weight, 50/50, front and rear. obviously, with front engine, you're always front biased. so the only things that could theoretically affect the handling negatively would be exhaust lightening and rear seat removal. that would lighten the rear even more, changing the weight ratio to favor the front even more. just one more thing to think about when you're planning this out.

Dont even bother taking off the door panels they felt like they only weighed about 5 lbs. eachat best when I took them off to see how heavy they were. I thought about leaving them off for like 2 seconds and then I put them right back on. As f***** heavy as the doors are you'd think those panels contributed way more than 5 lbs.
