I have seen that before, and if I remember correctly it is a photochop. But, the idea is not new. Back in the 60s Ford actually made a prototype Mustang wagon called the Mustang Estate Wagon.

That is a classic edition of Car and Drive. Oct. 1966 is when I was born, and yes, I too turn 40 later this year.
