Default 06 GT 4,900 MIL - REAR END SHOT !

DON'T KNOW IF ANY OF YOU'S HAD ANY PROBLEMS OR STRANGE NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR END OF YOUR NEW MUSTANGE BUT I HAVE. HAD THE NEW GT FOR ABOUT 8 OR 10 WEEKS. LOVE THE CAR BUT ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO A STRANGE NOISE STARTED COMING FROM THE REAR END WHEN I WAS IN A TURN. IT SOUNDED LIKE A DYING CAT IN THE TRUNK OR SOMETHING. WELL THIS NOISE HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOT LOUDER AND LOUDER. TOOK HER IN THIS MORINING TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY JUST CALLED AND SAID THE RACK & PINION WAS SHOT. SHE ONLY HAS 4,900 MILES ON HER AND I DON'T RACE OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT. NOT SHURE IF THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW OR JUST A LEMON REAR END?

I think you meant "ring and pinion". Probably just a lemon. I actually do race and many of the people on this forum have been using drag radials on the OEM axle for quite some time now with no problems. I would just get it replaced and not worry about it.

I had my rear end go out with 114 miles driving with cruise on. Stuff happens and they stand behind it. People running 150 HP over stock without problems. Just a fluke I bet..

Same thing happened to mine ... a shim busted and jacked it all up. I was wondering if this was a common occurrence ... or if it was just a freak accident that it happened.
