Not sure if this is the right place for this, but here goes. Please read the article on the link below and reply to Ford and let them know how you feel about it.[:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@]

I'm neutral on this. But, I think I see what FORD is trying to do.

Fact is the state of KENTUCY copyrighted their name which forced the name change to KFC. Any song on the radio with Kentucky in it pays a royalty to the state. Alot of performers , except Elvis, quit playing their songs on the radio.

Dale Earnhardt tried to copyright the #3.

J&J copyrighted the words band aids in any form.

Johnny Carson sued and won against "here's johnny" port-a-jons

How about NFL, MLB,NBA Teams all copyrighted.

It's business..............
Whether, we LIKE it or not.
These aftermarket suppliers will do just fine without using the name MUSTANG/FORD.
ALL MAKES PERFORMANCE PARTS is a nice name, and FORD can't stop them from saying "fits MUSTANGS", they just don't want model names in company names, as, some ppl may confuse the products as made by FORD.

Depends on to what extreme they take it. I can see protecting copyrighted property because among other reasons, if you don't protect it to a certain extent, you will lose it (think "aspirin" here). On the other hand, if you bite the hand that feeds you, you will lose that too. If LEJAY has to change his sig to read "I BLEED **** BLUE" to keep from being sued, Then Ford is shooting themselves in the foot with this campaign.

This type of thing is nothing new. Porsche North America has gone after websites using the Porsche name without there consent for years.

I think it's a bit much. If the website was "FordMustangTuning.com" or "CalinforniaFordMustang.com" then i can see a legitimate gripe given that the Ford name was used. However the word Mustang shouldn't be copyrighted. There are other websites with the word mustang in it that have nothing to do with the car. Is Ford going to shut them down too? It said they were seeking $10,000 in damages?? What exactly will $10,000 do to a struggling company losing millions?? Maybe pay the court costs of a case i seriously doubt they can win? I love fords and i really think they hit a home run with the new mustang. However, if they really pursue this i will definitely lose all respect for them.

Last time I checked Ford doesn't own the Mustang name. Mustang is a hearty horse known for its endurance and strength. Ford didn't create it so they shouldn't own it

Just have all companys with the name MUSTANG in it.... changed to STANG. StangTuning.com .. Ford cant do anything about that. I think they are screwing up personally. I mean I could see how they would be getting upset if it had gotten out of hand and these companies had been claiming to sell "FORD" parts. But from what Ive heard and seen, most ALL of these aftermarket parts companies claim or have a quote usually at the top of their site saying that they are in no way associated with Ford. I think Ford should mearly have a company get permission from them for using one of their names "Mustang" or "Focus" and require the company to state theire not affiliated. But by sueing them and forcing them to change their names... thats just ignorant and not good business at all. Want a good way to make people NOT want to buy your product? Do this! Sorry... JMO.. doesnt make sense to me...
