Default rims

how can you tell which rims will fit on our mustangs? also where do you guys find your rims at, like what online places, im looking at perferably 18x9 front and 18x10 rear, most likely bullit style painted black.

another question though, i'm more into handling orientated stuff then i am into straight lines but, do you guys think i should go with just like i said before 18x9 and 18x10 for the biggest possible tires for maximum grip and sacrifice weight or sacrifice so called grip to get lightweight rims? or is there a way i can get the best of both worlds?

If you are more into the sport performance handling then i would advise against doing the staggered wheel setup it will create more understeer doing this. Stick with the same size tires and wheels at all four. As for where to get them check the sponsors sites.

A good source of info and ads for rims are in a Mag." Mustangs and Fast Fords". And if you can use this forum, you should be able to use a search engine to find descent rims for your ride!! We ordered our 18 in fans in polished alum from the factory, but Im sure you can find awesome rims online or in the mag!! Good Luck!!

ebay, tires.com, tirerack.com, do a search, there's hundreds of wheel dealers online. Get a copy of Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords, there's pages and pages of advertisers selling wheels. tirerack.com has the best advise for upsizing tires and rims, and has an interactive page that shows your car with your color with all of the rims they sell for your car.

Answer: bigger tire / bigger contact patch in back = understeer because the rear grips better than the front

Definitions:

Understeer = the front of the car hits the wall

Oversteer = the rear of the car hits the wall

If you're going for that look or maybe a little drag racing advantage, those tires match pretty well, meaning they have nearly the same outside diameter (255x0.45=114.75, 285x0.40=114). But if you're going for all around better handling I think that the general consensus is that having the same size tires all around is better.

I'm running that setup, (its the same as the new GT500), and it really is hard to bring the rear around. Straight line exceleration is the total hook-up. My only real complaint is it makes the car feel much heavier due to increased unsprung weight. I kept my stock 18 inch polished bullits and I rotate them often for different "feel".

Upgrade the sway bars and you will love the tire setup...
