Default Shaker 1000 Adjustments

Hi, I was wondering if anyone had any idea on where the actual amplifier for the subs is located, and/or if the output of the amp can be adjusted. I like the sound of the Shaker 1000, but I feel like the subs are overdriven, I prefer my bass to accentuate the music, not drown it out. I tried opening up the sub box to see if the amp was inside but I couldnt figure out how to open it. I removed the front screws on the subs and expected the subs to just pop off but they must be screwed on from inside too. Anyone have any experience with any of this?

I only have the 500 - so I'm not completely sure about the 1000. I believe the amps are located directly behind the subs in the trunk. I doubt you can adjust anything on them - but it may be possible to add some sort of passive capacitor to the subs themselves - they work by filtering out certain frequencies. You can try this link - might help. Good luck and post your results: http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/crosscalc.asp

Hit the Menu button on the HU til BASS comes up then adjust to your liking.

The amps are behind the subs in the trunk. Don't know if there is an adjustment though.

Yeah I know how to adjust the bass settings, and how it affects the volume to the subs, but with a lot of the music I listen to I end up with the bass setting at around mid level, which is ok for the subs, but seems to take away from the sound from the speakers inside the car. I just know every amplifier I've had before has had an adjustment for the output power, and I would really like to be able to turn these down

Well, it would seem too simple but here it goes. You need to get one of these,

and mount it where it is accessible from the drivers seat. You could even hook this up BEFORE the amp to the pre-outs between the HU and the Sub amps. you just have to ID the wire colors in the harness. This here should help you

Good luck!

Why would you chuck $1000.00 in the trash?

Well, someone else has told me that the amp(s) are located behind the subs too, so I guess I will take that apart and look around some. I would be very surprised if they used RCA inputs actually, but thanks for the links

Go here and scroll down to Audio Stuff. It'll give you the location and how to's on removal. No specs though.
