Default Functional Hoods

Okay, Right now I have done a lot of body work on my car and am down to the last installments, being the hood and the spoiler. I have found the spoiler, which is the roush one, but I can't decide on my hood. Originally I was going to go with the GTR Ram Air Hood but cant decide now. Could someone please help me out with some suggestions or anything...

the thing about the functional hoods, is so far all i have found is fiberglass, fiberglass is tricky, you wont find many body shops who are willing to touch it because it is so risky, and u always run the risk of having someone say they can do it and f*cking it up, the fiberglass hoods dont fit well at all and u have to find a really skilled body shop who can make it nice.... but before i found this out i was lookin at the california dream hood which is sweet

I am with Remrat on this. Take a couple of pictures of the hoods you are looking at the the material they are made out of and talk to a couple of shops. Ohh and let remrat know if you find any metal hoods that have ram air.

BTW- I would love to put on the GTR hood. I think it would be sweet if you can get it to fit.

I might go this weekend to see if a local body show will put one on my stock hood and try to make it functoinal. i will post back if I find out anything good.

Well if you go to lmperformance.com you can chekc out the GTR Ram Air Hood, and It looks pretty sweet, but is also the only Functional Hood I have found so far. But I think The Cali Dream might be functional as well. And I also reaally like the cervinis hood, but it isn't functional. So I might just go with the GTR Hood.

ya the GTR and the Cali Dream are both functional, i was planning on getting the Cali dream, just dont buy it before u take it to a really good shop to make sure they will do it, if u just have someone paint it and put it strait on ur car it wont fit right and will look like crap, so ur gonna need some extra work done on it, its gonna be quite pricey towards the end, i would double the price of the hood and that will be about how much ull end up spending on it

How are you guys defining "functional"? Are you talking about a hood that has intakes that pass into the engine compartment.......or just the hoods that have underhood routing for ram-air?

What I am meaning is the ram air scoope will connect to the air intake system. The GTR hood is made of fiberglass and has a built in air flow that connects to the factory air box. I assume that is what Ramrat is talking about as well.

Well, if that's the case....then I think the GTR hood is the ONLY functional hood on the market right now. Other vented hoods just let the air pass into the engine compartment. No air/fuel benefits there, just slightly lower engine bay temps.
