So I had to run down the street to the store and on the way there thig guy in a mid 90's Camaro revved at me. A big stinky cloud of smoke rolled out of his exhaust and the car coughed and backfired.. I obliged him with a nice 6 grand "clean" rev. LOL.....

Nice, but I wouldn't be in the habit of spinning the engine to 6K unloaded.

I pull it to 6500 at the track all the time, but I keep the freespin revs to few. Lol...... It has been pulled to 7 on the dyno with no prob. If it goes, I guess I will build a bigger and stronger one.

More than an engine to worry about- check out the pics in here:

http://www.fordmuscle.com/forums/the...ing_39267.html

the really ugly pics are on page 6- severed both the steering shaft and brakelines...that guy is lucky it blew during a burnout, not while blowing thru the traps at over 100mph somewhere...

^^^ not an S197. I do agree with you though. One of the good things about our cars is the disc brakes. Though the rules rerquire c-clip work when you get fast, you don't have to worry about a blown axel wrecking havoc.

But for the record, I say again - I AM NOT DISAGREEING WITH YOU...lol

Spinning unloaded = bad for your car plain and simple. The big boys you see doing it are doing it with a trans brake which is keeping the car loaded.
