So it would be better then, to "chill" the oil before I drain it when I change it? [sm=alcoholic.gif]
[sm=funnypostabove.gif] Thats got to be right.

Lejay, I have a 7 year old son that acts more mature then you.
I'm suprised that you haven't banned from this forum due to all
of the vulgar language that you use. Are you trying to be funny or are
you really just a jerk?

Great for your 7 year old son. I'm happy for him. I didn't start the vulgarity. Don't jump in on this. . OK.
As far as banned it's been tried before. I even voted to ban myself.
So I take it you have a 95 ? Go where 95s belong.
Read my posts, I rarely get vulgar. BTW I'm a jerk that's funny, a proclaimed dumbass, and anything else you care to think of.
Why don't you and fizwad go have a circle jerk ? one on one, or just plain do each other.

BAN ME............ BAN ME........BAN ME...............

I DON'T CARE.

ROFFL.

A 5w30 motor oil has the viscosity of 5 at 0 degrees, and the viscosity of 30 @ operating temperature. It is a multigrade oil and the "W" means winter.
As the oil warms the viscosity INCREASES.
I've been browsing the forums for quite a while just reading, but this is the first time I've ever really felt the need to say anything. Mostly just because LEJAY's being a dick.

Lejay, you don't have to believe us, but maybe if you try it out for yourself you'll accept the truth.

Here, check this out, and try it out. Then get back to us with your results. I think you will be humbled.

http://www.acs.org/portal/resources/...ter_Act_10.pdf

If you're too lazy to read the entire thing I'll make it easier and highlight the key parts, just for you.

"When the temperature of a liquid is varied, the viscosity will vary. Many liquids, like molasses, motor oil and cooking grease show an increase in viscosity with decreases in temperature. As the temperature of a liquid declines, the kinetic energy of the liquid molecules decreases and the intermolecular forces are better able to hold the molecules together. When temperature increases, the kinetic energy of the molecules increases. This increase in energy can tend to overcoming the attraction of the intermolecular forces resulting in a decrease in viscosity. "

Now here's the experiment part, I changed it up a bit specifically for this:

1. Take any angled surface.
2. Take any weight motor oil.
3. Pour that motor oil down the surface.
4. Observe how long it takes to reach the bottom. Record it if you really want to be accurate.
5. Take the same weight motor oil, heat it up so it gets nice and hot.
6. Pout that heated oil down the surface.
7. Observe how long it takes for the heated oil to reach the bottom. Record that time too if you want.
8. Compare the times. Which one took less time to reach the bottom?

The oil that took less time to reach the bottom has less viscosity than the one that took more time.

I'm positive that the heated oil will take less time to reach the bottom.
You seem intelligent enough, use your logic, does it at all seem like there is a correlation between an increase in temperature and a decrease in viscosity?

Get back at me Lejay..
