Infinity Kappa 682.7 cf Question
Ok i got some replacement speakers for the rear deck and as you can see by the thread title i went with the Kappa 682.7 based on a lot of the recommendations here and prior experience with them.(Have them in all my other cars) So i open the box and they have a passive crossover with them and i want to make sure i hook them up correctly so i do not jack them up. I purchased from Crutchfield so i also got the factory style wire harnesses. So my question is do i simply cut the butt connectors off the adapters and then splice them into the two wires on the crossover like the directions say? I know this is a simple question and i pretty much already know the answer but i figure i would ask here since some of you have already done this mod. By the way i searched and searched the site and could not come up with the correct thread that i recall reading this info in.
I also want to upgrade the door speakers but Crutchfiled says i must use a 6-1/2" component speaker is this correct?

I can't comment on your wiring as I don't know what the crossover configuration is.
However, the front door speakers are the exact same size (5x7) as the rear deck speakers. The OEM front speakers are a bit nicer than the rears. The fronts are a plate-mount design with a seperate tweeter and midrange. However, the wiring and the "bolt pattern" of the two is exactly the same.

The wiring on the crossover is as follows. Yellow and Green wires to Tweeter Terminals Blue and White wires to Wooffer terminals then it goes into the cossover and the other end has a black and red wire coming out that go to Pos/neg respectivley.
As for the door speakers so your saying i can use the same Kappas i have for the rear for the front?
Richard
Sorry, but I'm still confused about your wiring. You need to understand that I don't know what a Kappa crossover looks like. I don't know what the crutchfield adapters look like, etc. I don't feel confident answering your wiring question unless I get a much better description. (pretend I'm a brain-dead moron, and explain every little thing). Pictures would be good.
Anyway, yes, you can put the exact same speakers in the front doors.

Ok the terminals on the speaker have a tweeter side and a woofer side. Pos/neg on both. Then the crossover has three sets of wires coming out of it. Once set is one Yellow and One green pos/neg that are suppose to go to the tweeter terminals. Next wires are White and blue which go to the pos/neg woofer side terminals. Those wires come out one end of the crossover. On the other end of the crossover are the red and black wires pos/neg those say to wire to the Amp output which i am assuming is the stock wires to the stock speakers. The Cructhfield adapter has a plug that plug directly into the factory harness so i do not have to cut the factory harness. This harness has a black and white wire pos/neg respectively. So i am assuming that the black would go to the black on the crossover and the white to the red on the crossover.

as for the door speakers, do not get "component" speakers unless you have somewhere to mount the tweeter. get "two way coaxial" speakers befcause the tweeter is mounted to the midbass driver

Yeah, you have the correct idea for the wiring.
Splice the adapter harness that crutchfield sent you into the input ("Amp input") of the crossover, and then hook the crossover outputs to the tweeter and midrange as you described.
The Kappa 682.7 is a 2-way coaxial speaker. It will drop right in to the front door and rear deck openings. It doesn't have a "remote" tweeter.

Well i called Crutchfield a couple hours ago and asked them if my wiring was correct and they confirmed. Speakers are now in car. They did give me some more mids that i previously seemed to be missing. Will be even better when i replace the door speakers as well.
