Default S197 modification database

So I’m currently in a database management systems course for my MBA. As part of the class we have to make a database in Access. I know…no big deal for you IT guys, but as business majors this is an intro course and doesn’t get very extensive.

Anyway I have proposed an “S197 modification database”. I will make a database which contains data on Engine, suspension, wheels, drive train, and aesthetic modifications. Which vendors supply those modifications and for how much. Included with each modification will be a claimed benefit (such as HP gains on engine mods), and a link to the vendors website. The user will first select V-6 or V-8, then manual or automatic. At this point the available mods will be filtered accordingly. I will populate this with as much information as I can find.

My question is…will you guys use it? I could make it available and it can continually be updated. I thought this would be good as finding information can be a headache sometimes.

Mikey

That sounds rather cool...would you need a special program to access it? It seems like it would be kind of fun just to play around with, and useful for decision-making.

Sounds great. I would use it, especially if it was updated.

Sounds like a good idea, if it were updated regularly and supplied images and such, would be pretty useful. If it's all just text, eyes could begin to glaze over.

No special program, all you'll need is Microsoft Access.

If anything it will be nice to have a bunch of this stuff in one spot. I need it to actually be used as the profesor wants something that is actually going to be used.

It will be a few weeks, but I'll keep you guys posted.

Well if nothing else, if you create the database backbone stuff, some of us, myself included, I'm sure wouldn't mind helping fine tune for more mass use. I'm just too lazy to start from ground zero and do such a thing, but if linking in pictures or creating a separate executable using VB or something I might be willing to help with.
