Default Shorty Header questions.

Hi guys. I'm thinking about getting some FRPP shorty headers. Are they worth the $. Are they hard to install? Will i need a tune for these? How much hp are we talking about? I've been looking at the stock manifolds while cleaning under the hood. They dont look like they'd be near as hard to install as the 96-04 Gt's. Any replies appreciated. I've got to go to work. I'll check back in the AM. Thanks agian for the help.

Are they worth the money? NO, in my opinion.

Are they hard to install? No, the install is not difficult but it is time consuming. Expect it to take several hours.

How much HP? 3-5 HP tops accoring to the magazine tests.

Get longtubes. They're about the same amount of work but they'll give you 20+ HP no problem.

+100000000. i don't know why shorty headers are even made. they give u almost nothing in the power department and don't offer much convenience/price improvement over longtubes. you'll gain 3-5 hp; you will need a tune, and yes, theres more room in the engine compartment of the S197's than the new edges; so install is a bit easier.

Yes really why are they even made? Do they even sell ? I know they come with the Ford Power Pack. It appears to me after the CAI/and tuner and pullys excluding long tube headers, that most bolt ons' aren't worth the money. Example: x-pipe with cats, electric water pump. shorty headers, throttle bodies, spacers, that silly oil filter that's included on the power pack; what's that all about?

I'm wondering if the LT's that make the 20hp are the ones the remove the CATS. IF so cant you hace a good set of ST's that will do the same thing. JLB on their own add shows the ST at what +22hp and LT's with +24hp... I bought the mac ST's with 1 3/4 wich is bigger then most LT's. Keep my cats on for now and later find a way to remove them. Cops are punks this days so that will be one less thing they can rack on my ticket
