I would think it would work better then the factory intake!

My Shaker was around $850, and cost another $100 to prep and paint!

I painted the OEM Air Box Cover Silver and then clearcoat...

The Shaker - as designed, acts as a pressurized "Ram Air" air system when you’re moving faster then 20mph. The kit encloses the factory air box so pressure can build up giving your engine more direct cool air.

Installing the AEM, I re-engineered the ductwork from the Shaker to force cool air into the heat shield area of the intake.

You lucky Haw - - - I was considering painting it Purple with pink metal flake just for you man!


In case you are wondering...

WHAT MODIFICATIONS did I have to make to the Shaker for my AEM CAI?

First - - had to reshape the front mounting bracket which attaches to the front of the Throttle Bore Housing to allocate for the additional distance created by adding the AEM Spacer.

Second -- Had to cut a hole for the MAF Wiring Access. The original access hole location would not allow me to reach the MAF in its new location on the AEM.

Third -- Had to take my dremel and cut a notch out of the side of the heat shield to allow access of the Cold Air Duct coming from my Shaker and entering the space of the AEM Intake.

Forth -- Trimmed the original Shaker Cold Air Duct so it would dump into the AEM Shield.

Anyone want to do a writeup on installing their CAI?

Especially those who modified the units to be better.

much the same thing and was wondering how you incorporate the
shaker and the CAI system (in a functional mode).

 

Installed mine with NOS.It was easier then the factory plastic.Had Breenspeed tune my SCT tuner for it and runs like a champ that it is.

 

Cool chrome radiator cover.The steel braided lines are even nicer.

 

Professer Your engine is simply beautiful. There is no doubt in my mind that you are definately in the show car thing. Thanks for the illustration.

 

Prof. Who did you buy your AEM from?
Did it come with a tuner?
If not, did you need to get a new tune after the install?

I got the AEM from AEM...

You do NOT need a tune.. and it will NOT throw any codes... However, you can always get more benefit if you have a tune with a CAI.

I drove it a while with the tune I had already installed with my shaker, then ran by the shop that does my tunes and had it retuned.
