Question for those who've changed front speakers.
Do you remember which wire from the harness went to which terminal on the new speaker? I didn't have an adapter so I had to cut off the ford plug and splice the wires in. I was just listening and watching the speaker move on the bass beats and did my best guess.
Front Passenger: Green & White wire
Front Driver: Orange & Blue wire.
I have it as Green & Blue as +
BTW, world of difference; I can actually here the vocals now.
These are what I got. Eventhough they are only $56 walmart speakers it was a good bang-for-the-buck. I think the lastest version are 6871's (same specs except a little more power handleing.) I'll probably get another pair for the rear now.

If you look at the OEM connectors carefully you can actually see a "+" sign next to one of the wires. I don't remember if it was on the "harness side" or the "speaker side", but it's there. If I remember right, I think the + wire is the one that is closest to the "tab" on the speaker connector, but I'd go look for the + sign to be sure.
I also got 4 of the 6x8 Pioneers and wow what a difference! A definite improvement over the stock speakers. I used the Crutchfield installation instructions to put my speakers in. Also had to buy the speaker wiring adaptor that simply clip onto the speaker itself then plug neatly into the stock wiring harness. Here's a link to an older post to download the instructions: https://mustangforums.com/m_1546592/...tm.htm#1550868
With the speaker wiring adaptor, you won't have to worry about what is (-) or (+), the crimped ends are sized (1 small, 1 large) to fit the speaker posts on the speakers. Here's a post on its description:

And here's a picture of what I'm talking about.

I have my rear speakers still in the box so I'll look at them and see if I can determine which one is which. I just noticed in your first post your problem about splicing.
I figure that is Crutchfields justification for a little higher speaker price; you get plug N play from their adapters. Does walmart sell those adapters? They've got alot but I haven't payed attention to them.
I can't even here the stock rear speakers now with the new ones in the front. I like the 30hz rating of the pioneers. The subs are doing most of the bass work but the decent bass of the pioneers complement the subs nicely.

Have a multimeter to see which is positive?????????????

I actually bought the speaker wiring adaptor from BestBuy for only $7.99. I believe Circuitcity also carries this. It is the Metra 72-5600 speaker wiring adaptors that will fit the 05/06 Mustang Coupe 6x8 speaker wiring harnessess. A lot cheaper and faster than Crutchfield.
Multimeter won't work, unless you have a really fancy one.
"Music" is AC. Which means it's switching back and forth from "positive to negative" very quickly. In fact, "positive and negative" are incorrect terms for describing this wiring, but they are used so commonly that it's stuck.
