Ultimate Old School
Starman: I get what you're doing. My guess is the bike riders have never seen an original Mustang up close. My 67 has "Ford" on the hood with "Mustang" on the trunk lid. That's how they made 'em.
In reference to 05HOTROD assertion that you should change the fake GT gas cap to a tri-bar, not if you're going for the old school look. The base 67 V8 Stang used the tri-bar gas cap, the GT stang used the GT gas cap and still had the Mustang letters on the trunk lid. For all those who wish Ford would have made those fake gas caps, real, have never tried filling up an old Mustang. It's a major pain in the a$$. [:@]
Did you use the original barrel nut letters or the 3M tape letters?

Thanks, Jay.
I remember as little kid what they/Mustangs used to look like. I decided that the way I would go with the Legend Lime would be to retro it back as far as possible, while also keeping a modern look. To this end, I have not seen anyone else use the FORD on the hood of an '05/'06. True it is usually love it or hate it, however I love it and really thats all that counts.
The hood letters are stick on as are the Mustang letters in the back. They were purchased from Mustangs Unlimited and are supposed to be a licensed Ford part and true to the originals. At first I was not going to do the hood because the barrel pins were all that was available and I did not like the look enough to drill holes in the hood. As soon as I found that they were available in "stick on", which appears to hold well, I got them.

Starman,
The car looks awesome. The lime is a truly retro color and I think remaking your car is even more of a throwback. Same with me, the more I look at the front end the more I like it. Great job and I look forward to seeing more.

I think it gives the car more of a retro look, but I can't say I like the FORD across the front or the Hurst emblem on the back. I think the mustang letter makes it look very retro, I like that.
Although I am not a fan of the legend green I have to say your mods look good on it and I think you have the only color this can work on. On a different note why the hurst badge? Did it come with a shifter?
Really nice car. Totally dig the rear lettering, but am not sure about the front.
Front grille is a keeper -- where d'ya get it?
Not crazy about Hurst emblem b/c I'm a freak about symmetry, but then again I don't hold such credentials in my ride.
Those 3 kids oughtta be proud.

CAN WE SAY GHETTO!! Might as well hang some dice from the rearview mirror! I actually HATE all the visual mods except a clean lookng set of racing stripes! Everything else takes away from the look of the car, but this is just my thoughts! I don't give a F*** if you tie dye your sh*t and put **** carpet on the inside! [sm=icon_ladiesman.gif]
