Default Oil Consumption

I changed the oil/filter (with Mobil 1 - full synthetic) on my 4-month old stock Mustang GT at about 1000 and 4000 miles. After my 2nd oil change, I took a 2500-mile road trip, but the oil level dropped almost half-of-a-quart during the last 1250 mile leg of the trip. I am concerned because it’s obviously not only a new engine that hadn’t used oil on previous, prolonged periods of city driving, but also because it starting using oil just lately, during relatively easy highway miles. Has anyone else experienced oil consumption on these engines? Should I be concerned? Any suggestions or insights are appreciated.

Thanks... at least now I know it has happened to someone else... and this oil usage may not be a constant/permanent thing
