burning rubber
Just picked up 07 GT yesterday, I love it, but, had to get automatic trans due to knee problems, I've always been able to burn rubber in automatics before, but can't in this new 07 - Is it possible to it least get a little wheel in it?????
[&:] My GT's a stick, but I had a similar problem at first with our Magnum R/T. Here's a little trick I picked up that I think will probably work great for the Mustangs too. With the big four wheel discs on these cars, power braking doesn't work in the same way it did in days of old with plain drums on the back. If you're sitting still, stab the brake pedal three times fast and hold that last stab down. Do this with the traction control turned off, of course. For whatever reason, this tricks the computer into thinking you're in a panic stop situation and kicks almost all of the braking capacity to the front discs for a few seconds. Those four or five seconds you buy with this action are all you need to get the rear tires blazing, and once they're loose, you're in for a good time. I can't swear it will work the same with the GT's computer, but I know for a fact it works great with the computer in our R/T wagon and that Hemi can lay down some serious black lines for a 4,200 pound boat! No, it's not as quick as the GT, but the Magnum has run 14.20s and it's completely stock, so that's nothing to sneeze at for my wife's daily ride. Good luck and have fun! P.S. Another Brenspeed box arrived today! Can't wait for this weekend to start bolting on some parts! Thanks Brent!
the way that i do it is turn off tcs, then push in the break just enough to get the feeling of the pressure in the pedal. then push the gas pedal with the other foot (while holding the break) and slowly push the gas harder. you will hear traction break, when that happens, you can floor the gas and push the break down a bit more.
I had the same issie with mine.. It will get quite a bit better once it gets broken in...
I know I was very disappointed with this one at first.. But now, I have little trouble spinning them in my all stock GT with the TCS off.. Have a tendency to do so a bit too often on corners..
You might notice when taking off, if you floor it, there is a torque management system in effect on the car.. It will not put full power down until it gets moving a bit.. its rather aggrivating.. In mine, its enough to where i can feel it in the seat.. It will start accelerating to around 15-20 or so, then you can feel a noticible difference as it unloads the engine to the tires... pushing you back in teh seat a bit more.
While my car is still completely stock.. (that whole warranty thing.. kinda worries me..) I have heard Very good things in regards to getting an SCT tune for the automatics.. Apparently, the SCT tune is better then the others for the automatics, as it will adjust shift points, as well as do wonderous things for that *%$%* torque management system....
Tires are pricy anyways.. lol
