Can anyone shed some light on something... Recently I went to the store and I was driving through the parking lot and saw a nice black GT sitting there so I parked next to it. When I got out I noticed a huge white barcode sticker in the right rear window and another on the left rear. That was about a week ago and since then Ive seen like 5 or 6 others. Whats with the Mustangs with barcodes.. and I saw them on a few other cars recently too.

 

I know that there is an auto auction near me that puts white barcode stickers in car windows.

Could possibly be the same scenario.

 

they are the VIN in barcode format... used while transferring the cars to keep track of where they are.

 

Transfer the cars to where ??...I always thought they were for like hospital or university staff, my dad had one of his avalanche for that purpose. They scanned him when they came in and out,.

 

Sometimes they are Park Passes.. or Toll Passes... read by remote scanners (so they are LARGE).

I like the RFID tags myself... no stupid big stickers!

 

Oooo, thanks guys. I just saw them and was curious. I thought at first that they were rental cars or something but usually a rental car is idicated on the license plate so I was confused.

 

Yeah, alot of gated communities now use them as well so the gate automatically opens without the remote or guard having to open it.
