Default Smart buy?

I will be buying a car within two or three weeks. I am pretty much set on buying a black 06 Mustang GT. Since you guys seem to be an experienced authority on Stangs...I must ask. Is it worth the buy?? How is the resale value? How is the reliability? Are there any other cars in that price range that I should be looking at??

Thank you in advance to all that leave advice : )

I picked up my black '06 earlier this month.
Dollar for dollar the car's a helluva bargain (IMHO). You're going to have a hard time finding anything comparable to it under $30k.
Can't speak to resale; these cars have been very hot sellers so I can't really say how the market's going to look at them a few years down the road. I do know that GT's tend to hold their value well.
One word of warning - unless you enjoy spending every morning cleaning bug guts from the front end, don't have blood pressure issues that could cause cardiac arrest when you see that first scratch/ding from 200 yards away, and have the time to wash your car at least once a week (to keep it looking it's best) I'd recommend any other color than black.
But damn, these cars do look so sweet with that color.

+1 on black. If you have hard water, washing's a pain (water spots). My wife's ready to castrate me from the time I spend rubbing, polishing, pampering, etc. Looks soooo good when it's clean though. Black is so much more than just keeping it washed.

I'd say the choice of the car is very smart, I dunno about the color. I bought a Windveil Blue GT recently and although I hadn't considered it at the time, it has to be one of the easiest colors of all as far as hiding washing, waxing and finish flaws. I hear Black is the hardest to keep looking clean, it even drives owners crazy before they are done washing and waxing it.

My Redfire is ( almost ) as hard to keep clean as Black .. honest .. I have had a Black car before and

when I bought my 06 GT .. I thought NO BLACK.. well much to my surprise I think I should have gone

with my second color and that was Windveil Blue...!!!

the car is a great car IMHO.. I like mine

re-sale.. got me .. so many people are taking these cars and putting them away for collector cars..

I bought mine to enjoy it and have fun..

JMO and only that..

You could probably get a deal on an '06 if you are flexible. Also, I hear the '07 is 200 lbs heavier to support the Shelby 500 platform. Also the 3.55 gears are standard on the '06 5 speed, optional on the '07. Those are the only two big differences that I've heard about.

Rt1Reble is correct.. but to get the gears on a 07 it is only a $100 upgrade...??? ( from what I have heard ).. worth every penny if you ask me.. even at $500 it would be worth it IMO...

I can't tell you what to buy.. Ford is selling the 06 models cheap right now.. the 07 model is going to cost you

selling the 06's for cheap?? they were trying to sell me an 06 for exactly the same price as an 07! ive been to a million dealerships and to be honest they arent budging that much on 06s! i find it hard to believe bc i have walked out on 5 dealerships so far and all of them really didnt care if i walked or not. galpin wouldnt even negotiate they told me it is what it is and if i dont like it to go buy a used car!

the 07's are $1,000 higher from the bottom up. Also there's a $1,000 rebate on 06's right now. So you're talking about a $2,000 difference... problem is (im in the same boat) the selection of 06's is slim.. especially if you want a manual.. i live in michigan and this is what my dealer says "i think i found a silver one in ohio?" .... not easy.
