Removing Fake Gas Cap?

RE: Removing Fake Gas Cap?
Ive done it, it wasnt a pretty sight... theres a double sided tape the exact same size of the "fake gas cap or emblem" the tape will stick to the car, even with a shot from the hair dryer, this tape wont come out in one piece... i spent about 30 minutes picking at the little pieces.. plus theres two mounting holes left which can be plugged with some nylon plugs found at any hardware store.. hope this helps...

Same story as shoshi.
Had to use lots of WD-40 on the numerous pieces of tape left and scrubbing with my fingernails. The same thing for the rear wing and fender emblems too.
Here is a photo of the back of my 67. Filler on the tail. Gas tank IS the floor of the trunk.

RE: Removing Fake Gas Cap?
I saw a white GT without the emblem in the back and all you see is the nast 9 cent trunk lock. it needs something else to complete it, like a blackout panel or something. but it doesnt look bad without the "gas cap", just needs some help
