Yeah, I'm gonna look at buying a sheet of magnetic vinyl, and cutout a piece as an overlay until i can get the trunk finished.

Check out Silverhorse Racing honey comb panel and the billet rear emblems. I have the honey comb panel for over a year and the fit is perfect.

Yeah, I've seen those. Too bad I already have the billet fuel foor. Having two billet medallion/gas door shaped objects on my car would probably look a tad redundant.

Meh... I got a scrap 1x3ft piece of magnetic backed vinyl from a sign shop in Burbank for free. I took the CDC panel off and traced it on the scrap using a utility knife, and here's the result:

It's kind of streaked with WD40 at the moment, (from taking the tape off the trunklid), but I think once I clean it up and take the lock out it will look decent enough to roll around with for a while.

Ok well I did a quick PhotoShop after modding the car up with some parts I've already bought in pony builder to show the diffrence in tails compared to stock. I think I'm gonna get em, I didn't think the diffrence would look that well diffrent but I like em much better.

I'm not having any problems that I'm aware of with the tails. I never bothered with installing the modules, they worked fine without them. Anyway, yeah, I'd try the stock harnesses. I have the CDC harness, btw. I seem to recall yours was a different brand?

In the meantime, the CDC panel peeled off on the passenger side edge. It's curve didn't match the trunklid's out of the box, and I may end up having to take a heatgun to it or something. I'd like to just get rid of it completely and have the holes (keyhole included) filled, but don't want to spend the money on that right now. My girlfriend thinks it looks kind of cheap anyway

I just got one of those back panels just like yours, and it's doing the same thing! It doesn't fit the contour of the metal and the sticky tape is coming unstuck! I just put it on last saturday and cleaned the metal thoroughly several times with isopropanol. I wonder if I can take it off and retape it or even get a replacement???

I was thinking of painting the emblem black and putting mine back on using 1" thick 3m tape, as opposed to the 1/2" tape. You can buy it at like Pepboys or Kragen, I think. It would probably still help to heat up the panel somehow.

(edit) BTW, they have in smoked too:
