Default TECH: Help!

Heyas all got my new 2007 GT, has 240ish miles on it and for some reason I was at McD's and I noticed that it smelled funny.. not like new car smell but like burning rubber.. now this wouldnt have bothered me but i hadnt burned out or anything. I pulled into the parking lot cause it looked like steam coming from my wheel wells not the engine compartment. it smells like burning rubber and all the fluids are at the right marks.. im confused plz help

It may be a piece of packing material or plastic et cetera that is caught under it or on something. Get the idea? I sure would get it to the dealer right away as I am SURE this is not something "normal".

If I saw steam coming from the wheels, I'd suspect stuck brakes - but short version is - get thee to a dealer - you should not see that unless of course, you:

a. are riding the brakes
b. just did a 100->0MPH test...

My friend had this same problem about a week ago. Took off in her Mustang and forgot to take her parking brake off... She has an older model so the PB is slightly less noticeable because its on the other side of the console. I dunno how you could miss our giant crane of a PB, but anything is possible, check it out.

Well its good that its not smoking anymore but probably good idea to let the dealer check it out anyways. Good luck.

by any chance is it a stick shift? and if so are you riding the clutch a little? because you will get a weird smell from the clutch, i noticed it on mine too on the break in period.

Its most likely something like a label, or sticker thats on the exhaust or some other part like the disc, that is heating up and burning. Mine did the same thing the first several 100 miles. I gave mine the once over and found nothing. But it can't hurt to have the dealer look at it especially if it puts your mind at ease.
