Got the L/T setup by Dynatech. Love em. Install myself on a lift, 3.5 hours including cats and x-pipe.

I have the same (Dyanatech longtubes). I did the install myself. I didn't have a lift so I used a floor jack & stands. It took me about 4-5 hours.

SLPs from front to back. Paid to have them installed (well worth it to avoid the fustration). Long tube SLP headers with Catted X Pipe and Loudmout axle backs added 30 RWHP, proven by Dyno.

Do you actually have to remove the motor mounts? What is involved in this and what else do you have to remove? I have access to a lift and all basic tools, i'm planning on going with Hooker L/T Headers.

According to Dynatech's directions, you do not need to remove the motor mounts from the car. You do, however, need to loosen the bolts so that you can raise the motor up slightly. I went ahead and removed them when I did my install becasue I thought that would be easier than trying to work around them.

The install is pretty easy, basically it goes like this:

Remove the battery, tray, and intake while the car is on the ground. Also, loosen the motor mount bolts.
Jack up the car and get underneath.
Remove O2 sensors & stock H-pipe
Remove starter & move the steering gear
Remove the stock manifolds (this requires a 5mm socket and a 13mm "gear wrench". make sure you have these on hand--it will save you a TON of time and diminish the cursing required to get the job done)
Jack up the engine slightly. (I used a bottle jack and a scrap piece of lumber)
Bolt on the headers
Lower the engine
Replace steering gear & starter
Install your new X pipe
Lower car on the ground.
Replace the underhood parts & tighten up the motor mount bolts.

Go driving, be sure to weight your right foot properly....

Basic tools is all you need. The only things that I can think of that are non-standard are the aforementioned 5mm socket and the 13mm gear wrench.

Excellent description CrazyAl. The only thing I will add, is that when you take the two bolts out of the rack and pinion, remove them from the top. The nuts on the bottom are tack welded. When you put the rack back, verify that the wheels and steering wheel are centered. There is enough play in the bolt holes to allow the steering wheel to be slightly off center. Had to adjust mine after the install. This may vary a little from the install of brands other than Dynatech.

+1 dynatech's ....Excellent install tips by Crazy Al and MusiccityGT

Although now i am wondering if my steering wheel is off center. I had the shop install mine so who knows if they took that into consideration. As soon as Ernesto blows through i will check it out...
