Default Few Questions on New Stang 'Bout Wheels, Paint, Mats, Leather

Hey all. New here. I'm detail oriented. Had the pleasure of going over my new GT convertible (satin silver, crinmson red leather) with a microscope today as I started detailing her. One of the cleanest new rides I ever had. No nicks, chips etc, and only one faint clear scratch that came off with Maguires #1. Some questions:

1. Wheels: I have the 18 Premium Aluminum, that's what they are called on the sticker and the brochure. When I tried to shine them up, I noticed that a) the finsih is not real clean, i.e. they shine but if you look at it, it is unlike any polished or chrome wheels I ever owned; sort of milky, not clear, and there seems to be a protective spray on it (like a clear) that has some little grit in it that won't come off or out. What's on them , and what are they supposed to look like? I am not satisfied with the look.

2. Paint: On rear quarter, down low, some grit/debris in the paint. Anyone had that?

3. Mats. None for the rear with the crimson red. Don't they come with rear mats when you get the interior accent package and mats?

4. Leather. What is? Seems like the center in front and I'm not sure any in the back. Anybody know? Trying to figure out what to vinyl treat vs. leather treat.

Thanks for any help info. Great site!

1) They're polished, just not very well. If you went a better shine out of them, have someone polish them up for you.

2) To be honest, I've seen this on a LOT of cars. I actually think it's intentional, helps "deter" paint scratches and chips (don't quote me on that, though)

3) I've personally never seen a Mustang come with rear mats. My brother owned 2 (a 96 and an 04) and this is my first. None came with rear mats. You can order from Ford and several other places.

4) On most cars, only the faces of the seats and the headrests are leather, but to be honest I'm not sure what all is leather on these.

Hope that helps a bit.

Thanks on 1 and 3. I know what you mean about #2, but it not the uniform treatment that I have seen as protection. It is just on one side, and looks like some debris got on there during the painting. Agreed on 4, but I'm in the same boat as you on these cars, and the back looked vinyl to me.

The seating surface is all that is Leather the rest is vinyl. The entire rear seat is vinyl. I have been using the Meg's Leather Wipes followed by a wipe down with a MF Towels and that seem to be working very well.
