New Stripes

New Stripes
Hi ! I haven't been here since I was waiting for my Mustang in January of 05. As an update I just got the stripes painted about 3 days ago. Here are some pics of the "finished products" all I can say is you are never finished and I am already looking for the next mod. This site is dangerous that way ! The one pic has my '65 in it which I have had since I was about 13.

RE: New Stripes
Smallblok,
Was there a reason you went with the painted on stripes? Talked to a guy the other day in a tint shop and he only recommended getting the painted on stripes. Also, if you dont mind me asking, about what price range would painted on stripes run?
Will say, it really looks good.
Thanks for posting the pictures.

RE: New Stripes
Hi Rusty,
Thanks for the compliment !
I went with the painted stripes because I didn't want to feel the edge or lip, plus I could pick the exact color. I went with a Ford Glacier white, it has a touch of a gray tint. I was afraid the vinyl would look like I put white tape on the car, though I have seen pics of white vinyl and they look great too.
I paid $2,312, but that was with them painted under the clear. I have heard they can run anywhere from 1800 - 2500, less if you just spray them on top, but you would probably feel a lip. The shop I used uses PPG paint. They spent a week testing colors on an old hood for me so I could be sure of my color choice. ( I tried 4 different shades ) I even took the old hood home with me to decide. They sanded down the hood, roof, decklid and spoiler, removed the weather stripping, taillight, grill etc. laid out the stripes (6 hours just to lay them out) then painted the decklid, spoiler and hood off the car baked the parts in a booth and re-assembled it complete with a wash and wax ! It tool a little over 2 weeks... the worst part was choosing the color.... and being without my car of course.
