Some states call vanity plates to those plates with pre-designs or logos (i.e., an university plate, purple heart, etc) and personalized plate is when you are able to type-in your own numbers/letters combination. Some states allow both, a vanity plate, lets say (Clemson University) and allow you to request your own number/letters combo.
Yep I have the crater lake plates here in oregon, slightly different license# than a normal plate as well.

here they have both options "custom letters" or "logo of some group" but they won't let you have both combined (or at least thats what they told me)

TYP A, as in "Type A personality"- which means very impatient, intolerant & aggressive (in other words: a prime candidate for road rage).
See the additional warning on my license plate frame- which makes it even clearer....

Don't know for sure if it helps- but nobody has fcuked with me yet........

I just got in the mail today, a postcard from the DMV saying my vanity plate is ready. I'm going down to pick it up Monday morning, I'll post picks when I do. My plate is YRUSLO . In RI, you can go to the DMV onlinetocheck the availability of a plate, reserve it for $40, then wait 6-8 weeks until it's ready.

Mine comes from the original name for Grabber Orange that Ford was planning on calling it. When you order touch-up paint, it is still listed as "Valencia Orange." The CYA is just a little way to speed it up. I think it's pretty cool.
