Default Brenspeed tune

Just purchased an SCT XCAL2 from Brenspeed and should arrive very soon. I was only able to inform them of new air intake and exhaust. Could someone tell me what their tunes consist of? in other words will it correct the throttle lag and up rev limiters or is this something i should have ask for without the chance. Thanks.

Default RE: Brenspeed tune

I just installed the C&L CAI and Brenspeed 91 Octane tune last night. All I can say is WOW. It makes the car MUCH more fun to drive.

Things I noticed on my 5-speed manual car.

1. The idle is increased a bit
2. Throttle Lag is gone
3. Throttle ramp in is more agressive
4. Power increase is noticable, ie: stomp the gas at 15-20mph in first gear and it will break the tires loose
5. 1-2 Power shifting is now results in more than just a chirp!
6. The car pulls better in every gear and it's very noticable

Overall, it was worth the money. I like the throttle feel the best of all. It's instant and responsive. You will not be dissapointed. But I think the tune with the intake makes the biggest difference. However the tune alone should fix the throttle issues which is something I disliked about the car.

Ditto dmwtech, the higher idle kinda bothers me a little bit but very happy nonetheless.

Throtle lag to me is when you downshift to 3rd, at 55mph and there is no initial power....it comes on slowly. Yellowfever u are gonna be so happy with the tune....IT ROCKS!!

reload the tune and lower the idle to 750rpms. I did this months ago with no ill effects. You can email Brent and ask about the idle settings if you're concerned.

I don't think that's throttle lag.

Throttle lag is exactly that... lag on the throttle... mainly when people notice the most is when you leave from a stoplight or sitting still (but it does happen at other times) and then you push on the pedal and it takes a second for the computer to realize youre pushing on it. A tune will fix it right up.

throttle lag is like turbo lag..or lag when you are playing a video game on 56k....all it is is a delay in what you need at the time.

as far as the sbrenspeed tune, he adjusts shift firmness, air/fuel, timing, things such as that to get your shifts more positive, your airfuel right, and throttle lag gone. I have his tune on my car and it feels about 10x better. when it came in my bussy asked what i had come in from UPS today, i told him a brand new car.
