Default 4.10 Gears or CAI

Since the pricing seems comparable, which would be the best bang for the buck?
4.10 gears or CAI?

Are you manual or auto?

Scratch that, either way, CAI.

Power + Gained MPG FTW

CAI will require a tune, so add another 399.00 to the mix. 4.10s are a pretty big bang for the buck, although it has nothing to do with a HP gain, whereas a CAI will add a few. It's a matter of preference and perception. 4.10s will get you a faster off the line and through the first 3 gears. CAI will add HP and a nice looking package under the hood. I went with 4.10s first 'cause I didn't know if I was going to go with the CAI or a supercharger. I decided to go the SC route so I'm happy with my first choice. Hope this helps.

You need a tune with the 4.10s too or face speedo being wrong.

Also, CAI = More MPG, 4.10 = WAY less

True, a tune is needed to get "accurate" speedo readings, but is not "required" as it is with a CAI. Also, not necessarily true about MPG. Mine did get worse mpg, in fact it got better by about 1 MPG, with is what I was told. Less acceleration to get up to speed. I was getting on average about 14.7 MPG is city; now I am about 15.5 with the 4.10s.

based on post here, you don't need a tune using the GMF CAI..

I'm going with FRRP's 3.73's or 4.10's as my first major mod. My dealer will install them for me (2 hours of labor) and retune the speedo (for free so no need to buy a tuner).

Just like everything, it's all about preference! Like Sherwood, I'll be packing on a Supercharger as soon as the funds become available which is the main reason for the gear swap being the first instead of a tune - CAI combo.

Either way you go...happy modding!

If you don't mind me asking SCS what did you pay for the total package? I'm assuming you got the gears from the dealer...?
