Default My two cents

I am new here. I have owned a few Mustangs over the years-66 coupe- 76 cobraII -81hatchback -87hatchback. Now we have an 05 GT and an 06 pony package. I have had a very bad dash rattle fixed, ring and pinion replaced-axel whine, and now it is in the shop for battery drainage. I am disapointed with the quality of this first year car. I also have an exhaust rattle and a ticking in the engine which will have to be fixed before the warranty expires. I really like the looks and performance but the quality sucks. So far the 06 is doing much better with only a slight exaust rattle so far. I must say that pony package is sweet and my wife made a good choice with the sceaming yellow. The 06 rides smoother and quieter than the 05 GT. I realize the GT has a stiffer ride due to the handeling package, and thats ok , but I don't like the extra rattles that come with it. Thank goodness for warranties. My dealer will be tired of seeing me very soon, but that's too bad. I will have all my problems fixed, that's what they are there for. By the way my wife got the 5 yr. 50,000 mile warranty with hers. Peace-out.[IMG][/IMG]

I have had a few s197's and I am very pleased with quality, fit and finish, etc. The passenger seat recliner on my vert, broke......thats about the only thing I can remember going wrong. My 05 gt coupe had an occasional bout of gas tank filling problems, but only like twice. I may have been dreaming, but didnt I read that the Mustang GT passed accord and camry in initial quality surveys?

Good Luck with your ride.

My mom has an 06 Accord, she has had some small stuff happen. there are two 12 volt outlets...well the one in the center hasn't been working for months...she checks it about every week or so, so the last two times she took it in for an oil change, she checked it, both times it didnt work, and by the time she got to Honda, it worked again! ahaha, also the front glove box light is ALWAYS on for some reason, so even when its closed you can see the light through a gap...at night its annoying. they told her hte only way they could fix it was with this foam tape stuff they have...you can't see it when its closed and it stopped the light..but god does it look ugly! and just last week she told me that the sunglass holder on the ceiling that you press to open/close...well it wouldnt open and her sunglasses are stuck in there now. just little stuff like that. but i can't say much, my 06 stang has been in for an alternator and a controal sensor...both of mine caused the car to DIE..a.nd it had to be towed...

Well it could be worse, I stepped out and bought a GM product...after an alternator, intake manifold gaskets, master cylinder, & a tranny, before the GM warrany expired I'm back with Ford, and couldn't be happier...

4.6man,

I'm sorry to hear of your bad luck. I think that generally the S197 has proven to be a good vehicle. That said I waited a few years after they were out to buy mine. I have had a few very first issues of some new cars and had many problems. I finally learned to wait until at least the second model year of a new series car.

All that said, don't be ready to shoot all the dogs because one of them has fleas.

Don't get me wrong guys, I am still a loyal Ford man. I have owned many Fords over the years. My first vehicle was a sweet F-100 with a 302 engine. Along with the two mustangs we have now,we also have an F-150 4 wheel drive which has been babied since day one. That will change somewhat now so we can baby the stangs this winter when the roads are bad here in Ohio. By the way I did get the GT back from the dealer. They said the battery was bad. That was what I was hoping for since it was an easy fix.
