Upgrading base stereo...need help deciding
Missing my Shaker 500 (2006 GT I traded for has a base stereo system), I want to upgrade everything. I listen to rock, punk & metal, and I was hoping someone could give me advice on this one. Here is what I'm looking at:
Kenwood double-din deck (already have)
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-4hGeFhV...00&I=113DPX701
Inifinities:
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-4hGeFhV...12CF&s=0&cc=01
Kenwoods for the rear:
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-4hGeFhV...X680&s=0&cc=01
and front:
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-4hGeFhV...6880&s=0&cc=01
Sony for the front?
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-4hGeFhV...5742&s=0&cc=01
I'm basically looking to have a set-up that will have power. I'm not big on bass itself, but I would like for the music to sound full, you know? The fuller the mix of the highs, mids and lows, the better. The stock set-up feels pretty hollow - you can blast it, but it feels empty - and I was wondering if just upgrading the deck & speakers will be enough. Would just upgrading the deck & speakers be good, or should I look into getting an amp as well?
I have a number of options here...I could go all 4 Infinities (I read they fit even if Crutchfield doesn't say that), or I was thinking of going with the Infinities in the back and the Kenwoods or Sony pair in the front. Another possibility is going all Kenwood. Anybody have any experience with these and this kind of music? Anyone have a set up they like for this or any suggestions on something different?
Thanks in advance...
I just posted this in the Audio/Video Topic, but then saw the frequency of posts there and decided to put it here. Should I lock that other thread?

The Keenwood is a really good choice and unit. I would go with that and four Infinity's plus you will likely need a subwoofer and amp as the 6x8's don't have much bass. You could try it with the Infinity speakers first, but probably will want the extra bass. I would add a Scosche box ($140)with a dvc 12" (Infinity Alpine or Pheonix Gold ($150)) and a decent amp MTX Thunder 421D is sweet and less than $200.

just installed the infinity's in my car and yes they do fit. i talked to crutchfield about why they say the front's don't fit and they admitted they likely would but the tweeter sticks up like an 1/8 of an inch higher then the spec they use to fit so they just wanted people to be aware of that.
i installed them no problem. you just have to break off a couple of the hole's on the front speakers w/a pair of pliers but the rears are a direct fit.
the sound is 100% better and i haven't even upgraded my head unit yet. so, it is definitely a fuller sound but if you like bass at all you'll want a subwoofer. there's just no replacement for that...
beware, i'm getting a rattling from the right door panel from the vibration. i don't think the speaker is touching the door panel but i've got to find a way to apply some tension to the area right above the speaker so it doesn't vibrate.

Thanks for the info guys! I haven't heard anything about the rattling before, but I'll be sure to keep that in mind.
It looks like Best Buy has the speakers on sale this week too, so I lucked out a little. I wonder if they'll be willing to try installing it since their system says the speakers don't fit. (I'd try it myself, but I don't have the nerve to mess around with taking the car apart and all)
