Default Getting windows tinted

Did everyone who got their windows tinting (coupe) need to have the door panels removed? The tint shop is claiming it can't be done otherwise.

Thanks.

Nope I didnt.. they just used some special tool and pulled it back a little.. I would make sure they put on the moleskin though cause I have severe scratching, check the thread at the top of the section here.

If it's going to look better....why do you care? Some shops probably do it and some don't.

If they are going to install felt or moleskin on the inside removing the door panel is much easier than doing it any other way. When I first tinted my windows I installed felt by just putting the windows all the way down and sliding it in. When I put my new front speakers in last week I redid the felt with the panels off and inside strip removed ... much easer and better install.

I still haven't had my windows tinted because of the scratching crap! It really pisses me off that I have to have some felt added.

While they don't have to do it, it may not be a bad idea. HP Racing, here in Glen Burnie, MD bent up the interior weather stripping pretty good with a heat gun (in addition to putting a scratch in the rear fender).

yeah it just really depends on where you go. the place i got a quote from that i will probably go in the future, said he was going to take off the door panels because he wanted to put the tint all the way down the glass. I was also thinking of getting the factory felt on the outside of the door redone. I have noticed that when i roll the windows up and down i get like streaks of some sort from the felt on my windows. I know if i tint them and not do it on the outside its going to scratch the hell out of my windows. So to answer your question no you dont have to take off the door panels.
