How many miles or oil changes did you guys go before you switched to your Synthetic oils?

 

Just used Royal Purple yesterday... 6K

 

First oil change at 3k

Switched to Royal Purple at 600 miles.

 

Switched to Mobile 1 at 1000 miles, after break-in period.

 

Switched to Mobile 1 at 1,500 miles..

Since they come from the factory with synthetic oil to begin with, change your oil and use synthetic any time you wish.

 

While at the dealer picking up my car after having the clutch pack TSB done I asked the service rep and the head tech what they thought the best oil to be for our cars. Both of them said to use the same semi-synthetic 5-w-20 that they use . But it did not have to be Motorcraft. I thought of using Mobil 1 my self and told them so, and both said that Mobil 1 is great stuff and wont hurt a thing, its just expensive as hell and neither of them would run any oil, Mobil1 or anything else, over 3.000 miles.

For me its just the money, which I am low on. If I could afford to change Mobil 1 every 3.000 miles I would do it. Im just too old school to go past 3.000.

 

According to the Ford label, the oil put in your car is "semi-synthetic. I've asked before - define a "synthetic oil" - you'll get 20 different answers. Change the oil at 1k, 3k, 5k and then every 5k with any oil you like. I changed to "synthetic" at 1k - Amsoil 5w20 XL "synthetic," an oil that I would not call a full synthetic but a good oil none-the-less.
