weight reduction

RE: weight reduction
Granted, the list is not perfect. But we are getting very close to 3000 lbs with it. My point was that 3000 or less should be attainable while maintaing most, if not all, of the comfort features of the car.
There are several major weight-savings items that I didn't bother listing:
Race Seats 75 lbs easily (or ditch the power seat motors for less savings but closer to stock appearance.
Catted H-pipe (highflows are lighter, Offroad pipe is significantly lighter) 15-20 lbs for offroad pipe
Tubular A-arms in front 12 lbs
Drilled Axles ??
Racing Brakes ??
Lightened ring gear ??
CMCP delete is worth about 3 lbs.
Polyurethane motor mounts about 5 lbs or more
Hood liner (4-5 lbs I'm told)
We still haven't touched on stripping out the interior, removing padding and/or noise dampening materials, taking out speakers/radio, AC, window motors, electric locks, power steering, or anything like that--though these are options for a serious racer.
Also, this hypothetical car would go like a bat out of hell also due to the major reduction in rotating weight.

RE: weight reduction
to have your car looking good and streetable I think under 3,300 is almost impossible. If you like to hear every rachet and have an *** of time driving then yes you can go a tad berserk on the w/r.
