Default Check engine light.

The "check engine" light came on this morning on the way home from work. The earliest appointment I could get was this Friday! Is anyone familar with any common faults triggering the indication? A couple of days ago, the fuel guage turned red and the info center read that there was a "fuel level data error". Also, I had intermittant "long cruise" stumbling problems. This should be interesting as I have to take the car to a different dealer.....the one I purchased it from is no longer a Ford dealer, so they can't/won't perform warranty work anymore. [:@]

Any Ford dealer will do your warranty work. CELs have to be "decoded" by the dealer. You can clear CELs with a tuner.

Thanks. The problem is, most dealers around here, in NJ, DO display the "Jersey Attitude" when it comes to service, especially warranty work. We'll see how it works out. Now I have to go outside and change the front to rear brake line on my 70 Chevelle. Ya think it would have lasted longer than 36 years and 676,000 miles huh?

I heard something on the radio about a dealership closing, and how another dealership was willing to take the cars from that dealership for service or some crap... (I live in NJ as well.) My dealership sucks, in short. Everytime I've wanted to take it in for some issue or another, it's always been a hassle... The car really hasn't had any problems. I have noticed the clunking in the rear, I'm assuming cluch packs... but apparently this is an unknown issue with my dealer. Clutch packs? Maybe on a Ford Explorer, but not a Mustang. (Almost exact words by the service guy.) They wanted to keep my DD for 2 days so they can take it apart... screw it up... put it back together and tell me nothing was wrong with it... I'll pass.

I bought the car in March '06 from Dayton Ford, on Route 130. This past September, they ceased being a Ford dealer. Bound Brook Ford closed as well this past summer. Malouf and Fullerton are the two largest near me, so I called Malouf for an appointment. We'll see how it goes on Friday. Of course, I'll be driving the car 104 miles a day back and forth to work until then. But, hey, it IS under warranty.
