Default When Purchasing New Gears???

So I'm bout to purchase a set of FRPP 3.73's. So do I need to get anything else if someone else is doing the install? Do I need to get the Install Kit, or do I just need the Ring and Pinion? Thanks,

- Justin

If the shop knows what they are doing they'll just charge you for anything else
but if you really want to get picky buy your own fluid and such

Yup...very true. If they say they install gears then they should have all the stuff they need to do it. If I were you I would go get some good fluid for the gears though...if you let them put the stuff they have in there it will end up being "ACME GEAR OIL" lol Get get some royal purple

motive bering kit, americanmuscle.com has em, the discount code is mustangboards

you will need a tuner to correct the speedo if you dont already have one

just out of curiosity, why not 4.10s or 4.30s?

Well, I really want 4.10's to be honest...but it's a street car, not strip. I know I'll hit up the track probably about 2-3 times a year and race probably once or twice...so yeah. I've heard that 4.10's arent all that great as a daily driver/Highway Car. So I've decided on going with 3.73's, unless someone can help me change my mind with some nice supportive information backing up their opinion...????

Stick with the 3.73's also i would suggest a install kit and depending on how many miles are on the car i would suggest a Master Install kit. If you have over 20k miles i would get a master install.

Randy's Ring and Pinion sells everything and has great pricing.

These guys also ahve good deals.

Well....My ride has exactly 9k on it right now. I already got an estimate on getting them installed down at HPP Racing down in TX, which was anywhere between 200-250 Bucks....which sounds pretty good. I didn't ask if I needed to get anything else besides the gears, so I'll check on that. But to install them do any of you think they'll need the install kit, master Install etc.?

well, with stock rubber, you will be turning around 3k at 80 with 4.10s, but also keep in mind these arent pushrod motors they are modular motors, they are rev happy to make horsepower and torque, my buddy had a 99 GT with 4.10s and was getting 21 mpg, you really shouldnt loose more then 2-3 mpg with 4.10s from stock, the reason you use more gas though is cause they are so much fun you tend to get leadititus
