Yep. Just like everyone said, its just an aftermarket stripe.
Whenever someone asks, I always say that it represents the 300, at the crank, HP.
Plus, I like the way it looks versus putting racing strips. Everyone else pretty much has racing strips so I wanted my stang to be a little different.
I see a few more Stangs out there with these same stripes, but they're not as numerous as those with racing stripes and I always get a look from curious drivers.

Yep and wouldn't it be a great idea if Ford had offered a special GT300 model in 2005, with at least the FRRP suspension, better rims and tires, unique hood, special paint and stripes, and a real stereo!!! Maybe make just 10,000 of them each year?

ehh..... not a fan of the side stripes on a GT. I think with the GT emblem there is to much going on with the stripe. I took the stripes off the 4.0 about a month after i brought it home, felt a little tacky to me. But thats just my own opinion. to each his own[sm=icon_sneaky.gif]

GT500 Mustang has 500 HP at the flywheel but is that why they have this name? I beleieve it is simply in honor of the original GT500. So why do people put 300 or even 350 on there now? To indicate how much HP they have??
If you are 600 HP at the crank then should you have GT600 stripes made?
Kind of silly but everyone is free to make their car in to their own idea of a Mustang so enjoy.
Nicely painted racing stripes are an enhacement to any car in my opinion. They can give a custom shaow appearnce to a Stang. Vinyl side stripes with fake monikers are somewhat tacky and would not be something I would put on.

Thanks - guess it is better that putting on a GT-350/500 stripe if it is not a Shelby Cobra.
I actually like them then - Our GT's could be GT-300s. Saw them on Baltimore Street Mods.
