Default A Big one that got away....?!!

First of all, you folks have to understand that my 2007 GT only has 340 miles on the clock- so please forgive me that I let a Big One get away.
I was stopped at a light this afternoon when this mean-looking Chrysler 300 SRT Hemi (425 h.p.) pulled up right next to me, but as fate would have it, my (long-suffering) wife was seated right next to me too, so I was driving in my (highly unnatural) "mature" mode.
Needless to say, when the light turned green the Chrysler floored it and took off like a bat out of hell, while I just calmly took off like a Wimp instead of giving him a well-deserved run for his money......
Once again, with so few miles on the clock I just didn't feel right about nailing the throttle (and there was nobody at all in front of us- so I would have had to keep it nailed at least up to 100 m.p.h.).
As soon as I got back home I googled his ride, and saw that the SRT does 0 - 60 in 5.7 seconds, so he would have eaten my dust!
oh woe is me, when will I ever get a chance like that again.....;-(

They are good cars for what they are...
425 HP Engine, but they weigh 4000+ lbs.

Stock for stock, it would get ya by a bumper of so to ~100.

You'll have many more chances like that trust me - my fiance has no problems with me racing (thank god) She'll look at me and say here we go again... you better win baby! The light turns green and then we're off [sm=gears.gif] When you actually take one tell me how it goes

I finally opened mine up Friday nite, a guy in a turbo diesel pickup was messing with me, I ran the stang up to 105 mph when the hood popped open, put me in pucker mode. wtf is up with the hood latch? didn't notice any hood shake prior to it jumping open, good thing for the safety latch.

DAM Grabberorange1! You may wanna get that checked out. When I get mine going my hood does shake a little. I didn't notice it before until my hood scoop blew off at 140 [:@] I notice it all the time now. Good luck with that!

I hate to disillusion you Moses- but there's a B. I. G. difference in what your fiance will say to you NOW about racing, and once she becomes your lawfully wedded WIFE....;-)

On the other hand- you may just luck out as I did, cause my wife (of 35 years!) just shakes her head a little and smiles wistfully ("boys will be boys!") whenever I do anything Crazy.........

Hey Grabberorange- thanks for the head's up on the hood blowing open at higher speeds!
I will be sure to wear rubber underwear and put plastic seat covers on when I finally start to race just in case that should happen to me...;-)

Moses- a good test would be to tell her exactly how much your mods cost.
Watch her facial expressions and body language VERY carefully, and if you see her twitch at all or lean away from you in Horror, then that might ne a sign that trouble's on the horizon.......

P.S. I told my (long-suffering) wife that I would really like a $6000 supercharger for Christmas, but she didn't even dignify that with an answer (didn't even bother rolling her eyes).......
